OCTOBER 2009 13: Villiers-le-Bel. Four people are accused of shooting at the police and one for complicity during the riots of Villiers-le-bel in 2007, after the killing of Lakamy and Mohin. They will be tried in the highest court, their case will start in late 2009/early 2010.They risk high sentences for attempted murder of an officer. The judge, Marie-Thérèse de Givry, was also involved in the previous trial for the murders of Lakamy and Mohin: in her requisitions, she asks for the dismissal of the officers charged in the case.
SEPTEMBRE 2009 26 Lille. Riots in Vieux-Lille, after a 31 years old man had a heart attack in the wagon, while arrested. He later died in the hospital. The second night, the police surrounded the areas of Vieux -Lille. Immediately after, fires were set in parts of the city. The next night, fires were set in several different areas of the city: Lille-sud, Wattignies ou La Madeleine. Two people were arrested after the riots, with their clothes used as evidence. The defense used this arguement as well to prove their innocence… The youngest was sentensed to 4 months of prison – 3 months with probation. The oldest was sentensed to 6 months…
